• Records: 112 records placed (85 confirmed, 23 probable, 4 possible) on 25 people (0 of them living). Nearly all fit people already in the study; the placements follow the reasoning and, where they exist, the citations of the person files (people/H0001.md etc.).
• Immigrant ancestor: Luzius Hegnauer (H0001, bapt. Igis 8 Dec 1819) with his wife Anna Margreth Bernet and five children, landed at New York on 29 Sep 1856 (ship Chace) and settled in Boeuf Township, Gasconade County; the 1860 census household (O02924–O02931) is placed here member by member. Leonhard (H0003) and John (H0002) spent 1866–1869 in Madison County, Illinois, before Leonhard, Martin, Christian, Christina and Barbara settled in Bates, St. Clair and Jasper Counties.
• New people: only two. Emil Hegnauer (born 1870, US-MO-001), buried in the Reform Cemetery at Pleasant Gap with Leonhard and Susanna, is probably one of their two children who had died by 1900 (probable). A John Hegnauer of the 2nd Missouri Infantry (3 months, 1861), aged 26, is kept as a separate man (US-MO-002), following the rejection in people/H0002.md.

• Outside Missouri: John (H0002) and his wife Mary (H0004) at Kansas City in 1880 and Lawton, Oklahoma, 1906–1908; Leonhard as father of the groom in Iroquois County, Illinois, 1901; Lizzie K. (H0021, Mrs. Durst) as mother of a groom in Jefferson County, Kentucky.

Evidence notes

• 1860 Gasconade household (O02924–O02931): Luzi, Margareth (1819), John (1841), Leonhard (1843), Christine (1846), Martin (1848), Christian (1851), Barbara (1859); the names, ages and Swiss births match the 1856 passenger list and the Igis baptisms (people/H0001.md).
• Civil War: the Lucius and Leonhard service-record cards and index entries are the ones cited in people/H0001.md and H0003.md. A "Louis Hegnauer" in the Civil War Soldiers Index (O02601) is placed on Luzius as possible only.
• Pensions: Leonhard's 1903 pension-index entry is standardized by FamilySearch to "Bozeman, Gallatin, Montana" (O02790); the 17 Nov 1916 entries (O02985, O02988) are the widow's application; the widow Susan K. is named on two more (O02750, O02773).
• Emil (US-MO-001): Find a Grave 78556009 gives only "1870"; the FamilySearch index copy (O03279) is standardized to "Prairie, Greene, Alabama". Susanna had seven children, five living, in 1900 (people/H0003.md, H0038.md); a daughter Margaret M. is one of the two dead; Emil, missing from the 1880 household, fits the other. Probable, not proven.

Conflicts and unplaced

• "Christopher H. Hegnauer", 1853 – 23 Aug 1943, Prairie City (O03014, FamilySearch Find a Grave index): no such memorial appears in the study's Find a Grave harvest and no such person is known. It may be a garbled copy of Anna Wirtz Hegnauer's memorial (died 20 Aug 1943, Prairie City) or her husband Christian's (H0010). Left unplaced; check the memorial.
• John (H0002), 1880: the Kansas City census gives his birth as 1831 (O02902) against 1840; accepted as him in people/H0002.md.
• Mary (H0040): the Find a Grave index copy (O03276) is standardized to "Bates City, Lafayette"; the memorial is in Prairie City Cemetery, Bates Co.

Open questions

1. Emil's death date: the Reform Cemetery burial register or a Bates County death record (1870s).
2. The two "John Hegnauer" Civil War entries of 1861 (O02610, O02611; 2nd Missouri Infantry and one unexamined card): who was this man, born about 1835?
