Life story
Walter F. Swezy was the husband of Clara Hegnauer, a daughter of Christian Hegnauer and Anna Wirz of Pleasant Gap Township, Bates County, Missouri. When and where they married has not been found.1–2
Walter and Clara are named, as Walter F. Swezy and Clara M. Swezy, as the parents of their son Homer Lee Swezy, who was born at Pleasant Gap on 12 November 1930 and died at Adrian in 2017.1–2 Homer's obituary names five brothers and sisters, among them David, Clyde and Elmer, so Walter and Clara had at least six children.2 In September 1957, when Clara's father died, she was "Mrs. Clara Sweezy of Adrian", in the north of the county, where Homer died sixty years later.3

- Evidence: He is known from two index entries for his son Homer (Find a Grave and a funeral-home obituary, 2017), which name him as Homer's father, and, for his wife's married name, from her father's obituary of 1957.1, 2, 3 The identification of Homer's mother "Clara M. Swezy" with Clara Hegnauer rests on the name, on "Mrs. Clara Sweezy of Adrian" in 1957 and on Homer's birth at Pleasant Gap, the Hegnauer home.
