Fetching the database…

1.8 MB the first time; after that it comes from your browser’s cache.

For the curious: ask in SQL

The database is in your browser, and it is your own copy: change it or break it and no harm is done (“Start afresh” gives you a new one). It is SQLite, with one addition, fold(text), which lowers the case and drops the accents, as the name searches do; the tables are described below. Up to 1,000 rows are shown.

    Or try:

    The tables

Two parts: the core (the people, their facts, families and places, the lines, themes and finds), 1.1 MB, comes first; the archive (the records, newspaper items, sources and written lives), 1.1 MB, follows when a question needs it. The download on the data page is both in one file.
