Life story
Pleasant Gap and Rich Hill
Christina Louise Kamm was born on 5 January 1889 in Bates County, Missouri, a daughter of Robert Kamm and Barbara Hegnauer.1 She grew up on her parents' rented farm in Pleasant Gap Township, where in June 1900 she was eleven and at school,2 and from about 1910 on their farm in Osage Township, just outside Rich Hill. There, in April 1910, the family next door were the Grills, with their son John P.3
Marriage
On 11 May 1912, at Pueblo, Colorado, Christina married that neighbour, John P. Grill.4 They came back to Bates County. In January 1920 they were renting a farm next door to her parents in Osage Township, with their daughter Lenora, aged seven, and John's widowed mother, Louisa.5 Christina was "Mrs. John Grill" among the survivors of her mother in 1923, and "Mrs. J. H. Grill" (a misprint) at her father's death in 1934.6–7

Later years
Christine, as she was called, lived out her life near Rich Hill. In December 1965 she and John were living a mile east of the town. She was taken to the Bates County Hospital at Butler and died there of a heart attack on 12 December 1965, aged seventy-six. John gave the particulars for her death certificate, naming her mother as Barbara "Hagnaur". She was buried on 15 December in Green Lawn Cemetery at Rich Hill, where her parents lie.1, 8

The Colorado county marriage index, attached to both of them in the family tree, gives the marriage of John P. Grill and Christina Louise Kamm at Pueblo on 11 May 1912 (index entry not re-read). The identification is supported by the 1910 census, where the Grill and Kamm families are next-door neighbours outside Rich Hill, by the 1920 census, where John P. Grill and his wife Christine live next door to her parents, and by her 1965 death certificate, where John P. Grill is her husband. Why they married in Colorado is not known.

- Sources: Her death certificate, the 1900–1920 censuses and the newspaper items were read on screen during the survey of her mother's records. The Colorado marriage is known only from the index entry attached to her and her husband in the Ancestry tree; it has not been re-read.
- Correction (WikiTree): WikiTree (Kamm-36) gives her death year as 1969. Her death certificate gives 12 Dec 1965, and Find a Grave agrees on 1965.1, 8
- Marriage in Colorado: The index gives Pueblo, Colorado, 11 May 1912.4 In the 1920 census John P. Grill was 25, so he was about seventeen or eighteen at the marriage and she twenty-three; the index should be read for the ages it gives and for any parental consent. Why they married in Colorado is not known.
- Children: Only Lenora (about 1912) is known.5 Christina's obituary (Rich Hill Mining Review, December 1965) has not been searched; it would name any other children.
- Her mother's maiden name: her death certificate gives it as "Barbara Hagnaur", from her husband.1
