Georg Hegnauer was born at Igis, Graubünden, Switzerland, on 16 April 1840 and baptised the next day, the fourth child of Peter Hegnauer and Anna Berri.1 He died on 27 September 1840, aged five months, and was buried two days later.2 Six years later his parents gave the name Georg to another son, Georg, born in January 1846.

    The Igis baptism register (FamilySearch index) gives Georg Hegnauer, born 16 Apr 1840 and baptised the next day, son of Peter Hegnauer and Anna Berri. One index gives 1839, but his burial in Sep 1840 computes his birth as 1840 in two indexes and gives the same parents, so 1840 is preferred.
