Georg Hegnauer was born at Igis, Graubünden, Switzerland, on 26 January 1867, the fourth known child of Nutt (Nutin) Hegnauer and Anna Barbara Bühler, and was baptised in the village church on 24 February.1 No later record of him has been found.
