Lizzie Krattly was born in Missouri in January 1873, a daughter of Sylvester Krattly and Christina Hegnauer, Swiss-born farmers of Marion Township, Jasper County, Missouri. Her parents moved from Gasconade County to their farm west of Carthage about the time she was born.1–3 In the 1880 census the enumerator wrote her name as "Alizzy".2

In June 1900 Lizzie, twenty-seven, was still at home.1 She married a man named Blase before 1913, when her father's will named her as Lizzie Blase, and when he died in 1916 she was living at Carytown, in Jasper County.3–5 She sits in the front row of a photograph of the whole family taken in front of the farmhouse in those years.6 When her mother died in January 1934, she was Mrs. Lizzie Blase of Route 2, Carthage.7 Find a Grave gives her death in 1952.8
