Life story
Edwin Link was born in Missouri about 1907, a son of Joseph M. Link and Katherine Susanna "Katie" Hegnauer.1 His mother was a daughter of the Swiss-born farmer Leonhard Hegnauer and his wife Susanna Hirschi, of Pleasant Gap Township, Bates County.2
Edwin grew up on the family farm in Pleasant Gap Township, one of five children at home in 1910 with Alina, Roland, Ruth and Clara.1 His father had died by January 1920, when Edwin was at home with his widowed mother and his brothers and sisters.3 In 1930 he was still at home, single and working as a laborer, but he had left by 1940.4 His later life has not been traced.
