Life story
Ruth Link was born in Missouri about 1905, a daughter of Joseph M. Link and Katherine Susanna "Katie" Hegnauer.1 Her mother was a daughter of the Swiss-born farmer Leonhard Hegnauer and his wife Susanna Hirschi, of Pleasant Gap Township, Bates County.2
Ruth grew up on the family farm in Pleasant Gap Township. In 1910 she was one of five children at home, with Alina, Roland, Edwin and Clara.1 Her father had died by January 1920, and she was at home with her widowed mother and her brothers and sisters.3 She was still there, single and working as a laborer, in 1930, but she was not in her mother's household in 1940.4 Her later life has not been traced.
