Cornelia Conzett, known as Nellie, was born in Iowa on 5 July 1864.1–2 On 1 May 1884 she married Christian Hegnauer, a young emigrant from Igis, Graubünden, Switzerland, in Cook County, Illinois.3

Their children were born as the family moved across Ohio: Ruth Anna about 1886, Alma at Portsmouth in September 1887, probably Walter Norman, who lived only from July to December 1891 and is buried at Columbus, and Wilbur Conzett, who carried her maiden name, at Columbus in April 1893.4 By 1910 the family was at Mansfield, Richland County, where Cornelia lived with Christian, Alma and Wilbur.2

Christian died at Columbus in February 1926 and was buried at Mansfield.5 Cornelia was living at Columbus as a widow in 1940, and she died there on 22 March 1943, aged seventy-eight. She was buried in Mansfield Cemetery.1, 6–7
