Life story
Hacker Avenue
Andrew Worek was born on 7 November 1912 in Illinois, almost certainly in Joliet, where his parents, Martin Worek and Margaret (Margarita) Senkowska, Polish immigrants from Wesoła in Galicia, had married in 1909 and lived for the rest of their lives.1–2 He was their second son, after Stanley; Julia, Mary, Joseph and a youngest sister (possibly living) came after him.3 When the census taker called in January 1920, seven-year-old "Andy" was living with his family and two boarders on Hacker Avenue.2 Ten years later, at seventeen, he was still at home in the house his parents now owned at 209 Hacker Avenue; his father worked in the merchant mill of a Joliet steel works.3
His father died in September 1932, when Andrew was nineteen.4 In 1940, at twenty-eight, Andrew was living with his widowed mother in her house at 1109 Harrison Street, with his brothers Stanley and Joseph and his youngest sister.5
Arizona
Andrew later married; his wife survived him (possibly living; not named here). How and when he went to Arizona is not known. He died at Prescott, Yavapai County, Arizona, on 12 June 1966, aged fifty-three.1 He was brought home to Joliet and buried on 18 June 1966 in Resurrection Cemetery, the cemetery where his mother had been buried four years before.6–7

The date and the state (Illinois) are on his death certificate. The town is inferred: his parents lived in Joliet from their marriage in 1909, and his brother (1910) and sisters (1915, 1918) were born there. No birth or baptism record has been found.
The only full date is on his Arizona death certificate (index read), for which the informant is not known. It fits his ages in the censuses: 7 in January 1920, 17 in April 1930, 28 in April 1940, and 53 at his death in June 1966; Find a Grave gives 1912. Illinois is on the certificate; Joliet is probable, not proven, from the family's residence. WikiTree's "about 1912" is superseded.

Prescott had a large Veterans Administration hospital, so military service is worth checking (the WWII Army enlistment records and the VA death file), but nothing has been found to show that he served. An obituary in the Prescott Evening Courier or the Joliet Herald-News (June 1966) has not been searched.
- Burial: The index names Resurrection only. It is taken to be Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville, where his mother lies; his own Find a Grave memorial (and so the plot) has not been read.6, 7
- Wife: The certificate says he was married and names his wife. No marriage record has been found, and her death has not been searched, so she is not named here.1 No children are known.
- WikiTree: Worek-17 (as found in Sept 2026) gives birth about 1912 at Joliet and death about 1980. The death is corrected here to 12 Jun 1966 at Prescott, Arizona.
