Salome Hegnauer was baptised at Elgg, in the canton of Zürich, Switzerland, on 24 February 1564, the daughter of Hans Hegnauer and Salome Peter, and was given her mother's name.1 She had an elder sister, Anna, and two younger ones, Apollonia and Dorothea.2–4 No later record can be tied to her with certainty.

  • Sources: FamilySearch's index of the Elgg church book: her baptism, with a separate entry for her father. The image (DGS 8014314) has not been seen.1
  • Name: indexed Salome Hognouwer, and her father Hansen Hognouwer; Hognouwer is probably Hegnouwer misread, and the image should be checked.
  • Parents: proven; the baptism names both.
  • Wife of Michel Zingler? (possible): Salome Hegner, wife of Michel Zingler, had children baptised at Elgg from 1589 to 1599 and was buried there on 30 Aug 1627.5, 6 Salome of 1564 is the only Salome Hegnauer baptised at Elgg in the index before 1600, and she would have been almost 25 in February 1589, but no record names the parents of Michel Zingler's wife. Possible only; not linked.
