Charles Albert Hegnauer was born on 8 May 1884 in Switzerland, the son of Rudolph Hegnauer and Louise Thut. He probably arrived at New York on 30 October 1884. He married Gertrude Odelia Kleisley. Censuses list him at Rochester, Monroe County, New York, from 1900 to 1950. Between 1918 and 1923 the couple had two children, Ruth and Eileen. Charles died on 7 December 1974 in Monroe County and was buried in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rochester.
