Christian Adank was baptised in Switzerland on 16 March 1865, the son of Adam Adank and Maria Hegnauer, and a grandson of Peter Hegnauer and Anna Berri of Igis.1 He evidently went to America with his parents as a boy.

Known as Chris, he married Clara Rundorff at Burlington, Des Moines County, Iowa, on 16 August 1888; the record names his parents as Adam Adank and Mary Hegnauer.2 He died in Burlington Township on 27 April 1940, aged seventy-five, and his death record again names his parents and his wife, Clara Rundorff Adank.3
