Blasy Hegnauer was baptised at Elgg, in the canton of Zürich, Switzerland, on 24 October 1557, the first known child of Blasius (Bläsy) Hegnauer and Otylia Nussberger, who had married there almost three years before.1–2 He is one of the earliest Hegnauer children in the Elgg church books, and he was given his father's name. His sister Genovefa was baptised in April 1561, and in November 1566 his parents had a second son baptised with the same name, Bläsy.3–4 No later record of him has been found.

  • Name: indexed Blasy Hegnouwer; his father is Bläsy in the same entry.
  • Parents: proven; the baptism names both.
  • The second Bläsy (1566): a younger brother given the same name suggests that Blasy had died by then (an inference); no burial is recorded, and the Elgg burial register survives only from 1591.5
