Catharina Hegnauer was baptised at Elgg, in the canton of Zürich, Switzerland, on 29 April 1559. The entry names her parents as Jacob and Anna Hegnauer, and she was very probably the daughter of Jacob Hegnauer and Anna Knobel, who had married at Elgg nearly five years before.1–2 She is one of the earliest Hegnauer children in the Elgg church books, and the only child of her parents on record. No later record of her has been found.
