Anna Knobel married Jacob Hegnauer at Elgg, in the canton of Zürich, Switzerland, on 15 July 1554, the earliest Hegnauer wedding known there.1 She was very probably the mother of Catharina, baptised at Elgg on 29 April 1559 as the daughter of Jacob and Anna Hegnauer.2

The little town of Elgg counted 119 house plots in 1532, and its parish took in the villages and hamlets around it, some of them across the border in the Thurgau.3 Nothing more is known of Anna. Her own baptism has not been found, nor her death; the Elgg burial register survives only from 1591.4
