Elisabeth Flütsch married Georg Hegnauer at Lichtensteig, in the Toggenburg valley of canton St. Gallen, Switzerland, on 19 November 1878. The index of the marriage gives the groom's birth year as 1846 and his mother as Anna Berri, so he was probably Georg, son of Peter Hegnauer and Anna Berri of Igis.1

The couple lived in the city of St. Gallen, where five children were baptised: Anna Dorothea in October 1879, Klara Meta in January 1881, Adolf Georg in November 1882, Laura Elwira in January 1885 and Dora Elis in June 1886.2–6 Klara Meta died in November 1891, aged ten.3 Nothing later is known of Elisabeth.

  • Name: Flütsch in most indexes; Flübsch, Flützch and Lütsch are misreadings. Flütsch is a Graubünden family name, and the study's notes on the Bürgergemeinde Landquart's list record it among the old Igis citizen families. "Emma" in the 1891 burial index is probably a misreading.3
  • Leads: the St. Gallen civil registers from 1876 (her birthplace, parents and death); her baptism, perhaps in Graubünden.
