Life story
Homer Lee Swezy was born on 12 November 1930 at Pleasant Gap, in Bates County, Missouri, a son of Walter F. Swezy and Clara Hegnauer.1–2 Pleasant Gap was his mother's home ground: her grandfather Leonhard Hegnauer had brought the family to the township from Illinois in 1869, and Clara grew up on her parents' farm there (see her profile). Homer was one of at least six children; his obituary names five brothers and sisters, among them David, Clyde and Elmer.2
Homer spent his life in the same corner of Missouri. He died at Adrian, in the north of Bates County, on 26 June 2017, aged eighty-six, and was buried in the Crescent Hill Cemetery at Adrian.1–2 His obituary names his wife and three children, who are not named here.2
