Faustine Donnell was born about 1895, the younger of the two daughters of George J. Donnell, a Presbyterian minister, and his wife Alice Juanita Johnson.1–2 Her sister, Lotta Alice, was five years older. The family moved with her father's pastorates: in 1900 they were at Brookville, Indiana, where the census taker wrote her name as "Jaustine", and in 1910 at Marshall, Missouri, where it was indexed as "Flontine".1–2

Faustine became a schoolteacher. In 1920 she was living with her parents at Claremont, in Dodge County, Minnesota, where her father was the pastor, and in 1930, still single and teaching, she was the head of the household in the village of Morningside, on the western edge of Minneapolis, with her retired parents living with her.3–4 She was still unmarried, and living in Minneapolis, when her mother died in June 1935 and her father in July 1936.5–6

At some time after 1936 Faustine married a Mr. Clements and moved to California. When her sister Lotta died at Tacoma in April 1973, Mrs. Faustine Clements of Ojai, California, was named as her surviving sister.7 When and where Faustine herself died has not yet been established from a record (see Research Notes).
