Life story
John Cook was born in England and was the father of James Harrison Cook, who was born in Otoe County, Nebraska Territory, on 12 September 1865.1–3 His wife was Lena Kimmick, a native of New Jersey.1 When their son married at Auburn, Nemaha County, in April 1885, the marriage record named his parents as John and Lena Cook.4
When James died at Spokane, Washington, in November 1919, his obituary listed among his survivors his mother and four sisters, so John and Lena had at least five children. John himself is not mentioned among the survivors, and had probably died by then.3 When and where he came to America, and where he died, have not been found.
