Life story
Robert Curtis Hegnauer was born on 18 April 1942 in Hennepin County, Minnesota, the eldest son of Robert Lucius Hegnauer Jr. and Adelaide Louise Curtis, who were then living in Minneapolis.1 His middle name was his mother's maiden name. When he was a year old his father enlisted in the Naval Reserve and was sent to the Pacific (see his father's profile).
After the war the family moved west to Cowlitz County, Washington, where the Cowlitz River meets the Columbia. In April 1950 eight-year-old Robert was living with his parents on a place of three acres or more outside the towns; his father was a machinist in the paper industry.2 Two younger brothers (living) completed the family.3 By 1960 his parents were living at Carrolls, just south of Kelso, and his father was working for Longview Fibre, the paper company at Longview.4
Robert spent his adult life in Washington. In March 1975 a Robert C. Hegnauer was divorced in Douglas County, in central Washington.5 By 1988 he was living at Lakewood, next to Tacoma, and he was "of Tacoma" when his mother died in 1995 and when his father died in 1999.6–8
Robert Curtis Hegnauer died in Pierce County on 12 September 2021, aged seventy-nine.9
