The only Elgg Peter with a son Hans Heinrich of that age is Peter × Esther Trachsler (H Heinrich baptized 16 Feb 1701). Heinrich's children were buried at Uster from 1736.

  3. Wilhelm × Susanne Ruckstuhl (daughter b. 1847 at Uster): is he the Wilhelm b. 1827 (son of Heinrich × Dorothea Luise Stein) who married Anna Furrer in 1854?

Summary

  • Uster: 35 records (22 of them further entries of people already mapped); 15 people added. The children of Hans Heinrich Hegnauer × Dorothea Meyer (m. 1730) were indexed at Uster without a surname: their baptisms now date the undated lines of the first mapping (Hans Jacob 1732, Margaretha 1734, Anna Barbara 1736 and 1739, Hanss Rudolf 1744, Heinrich 1753, Elisabeta 1755), and every parent link of that family is now proven. Two burials attached to them turn out to be of earlier children of the same names (Hans Rudolf, bur. 9 Jul 1744; Heinrich, bur. 19 Sep 1751) and are moved to new people. Hans Jacob (b. 1732) probably married A Magdalena at Uster in 1763 (their son Hs Jacob, 1770–1772): the first Uster marriage of the second generation.

  • Illnau-Effretikon, 1559–1624 ("Hegnaucker", doubtful): 50 records, 32 people — a family of four or five households indexed Hegnaucker, Hegnocker, Hegnacker and Hegaucker (once Hegnaur, 1595). Illnau borders Fehraltorf and lies 6 km from Hegnau. Whether Hegnaucker is Hegnauer (a misreading, or a local form) or a different name must be settled on the images: graded conservatively — the links inside the family are graded as usual, but the family is kept on its own line ("Illnau-Effretikon ZH (Hegnaucker, doubtful)") and its people keep the surname Hegnaucker in data/people.csv.
  • Winterthur, 1562–1645 ("Hegnower", doubtful): 13 records, 20 people — Christoffel (Stoffel) × Ursula Grebli (children 1562, 1565), four brides 1579–1592, Hans Heinrich × Barbara Troll (1645). Winterthur had a large Hegner family; since the Elgg index shows that Hegnauer and Hegner were confused in both directions, these entries may be Hegners. Every Winterthur link to a person is graded possible, and the surname is kept as Hegnower.

  • Karl Emil (b. 7 Nov 1854) is entered both at Uster and at Fehraltorf with parents Johannes × Anna Furrer: taken to be the child of Johannes × A Susanna Furrer (m. Fehraltorf 1853), not of Wilhelm × Anna Furrer of Uster (m. 1854) — probable.

Open questions (added 27 Sep 2026)

  1. Fehraltorf 1548–1550 and Illnau 1559–1624: read the images. If Hegnorer and Hegnaucker are Hegnauer, these are the oldest church-book Hegnauers and the family nearest Hegnau; the Elgg Hegnauers of 1553 may have come from them.
  2. Winterthur: Hegnower or Hegner? The Winterthur Hegner family (about 3,000 index entries 1550–1700) was not harvested; a check of the Christoffel × Ursula Grebli entries against the Hegner index would decide it.
  3. Uster, second generation: the burials of Hans Rudolf (9 Jul 1744) and Heinrich (19 Sep 1751) imply children baptized in 1742–1743 and 1746–1750 whose baptisms are not indexed; Salomon (b. c.1746) and Jacob (b. c.1749) may be among them.

Added 27 Sep 2026 (Volketswil, the parish of Hegnau: the Hegnauer families, 1590–1801): the burials of 1863–1875 that the index places only in "Schweiz" ("Schwyz") are in the Uster burial book, item 2 of Film 889427 (DGS 8120584, images 632–732; item 1 is the Volketswil register).
