Mrs. C. Tontz, of Alhambra, Ills., Mrs. Louisa Hirschi, of Highland, Ill., and Mr. and Mrs. Emil Hitz and daughter Edna, of St. Louis, have been visiting Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Hegnauer of this city and other relatives over in Bates county for the past several days.

Appleton City has lost another pioneer citizen in the person of Leonard Hegnauer, who died at his home Tuesday afternoon of paralysis, after but a few days' illness. He was stricken down only last Friday and his condition gradually grew worse until the end came. The funeral service will not be held until Sunday at 1:30 o'clock, awaiting the arrival of a son, Leonard, from the State of Washington. The body will be taken to Prairie City today (Wednesday) and the funeral services and burial will take place as above stated. An obituary will be printed next week.
