PRAIRIE CITY ITEMS.

A most deplorable accident occurred at the house of Adolph Doerflinger on Wednesday Jan. 6 h. Mr. Doerflinger started hunting and as he was about to leave the house with a shot gun under his arm the weapon was, for some unaccountable reason, accidentally discharged and the entire charge took effect in Mrs. Doerflinger's limbs below the knees, breaking the Tibia in one limb and injuring the other. Dr. Viedt of Rockville is attending the unfortunate lady.—The public schools will give an entertainment at the close of the term.—The Rockville Camp of Modern Woodmen gave a public installation of officers and banquet on the night of Jan. 6,th. The occasion was one of the most sociable we ever attended. This camp though organized only one year is in a healthy condition and its growth has been remarkable.—Henry Fleischer left for Pittsburg, Kan. Saturday to visit his sister.—Our C. E. is steadily increasing its membership. We have good attendance and interesting programs. All are cordially invited to attend.—The Select Friends will not hold a public installation as reported last week.—The Cheese Company held its annual meeting on Saturday Jan. 9.h.—J. B. Durand, Judge Fix and L. Hegnaur attended a meeting of the directors of the Bank of Rockville Saturday.—We have a few boys at school who, although they are old enough to have some sense and are members of respectable families, do not betray either fact by their actions.—We are informed that Mr. J. B. Durand and family will move to Butler.—Duck Seifers, a young man who formerly resided near here, and was well and favorably known, was killed in the mines near Rich Hill last week.
