Life story
Charles Haywood was the father of Adelaide M. (Addie) Haywood, who was born in Nebraska in October 1865. When Addie, nineteen, married James Cook at Auburn, Nemaha County, Nebraska, on 2 April 1885, the county's marriage record named her father as Charles Haywood.1 Fifteen years later Addie told the census taker that her father had been born in England.2 Her husband's obituary of 1919 spells the family name Heywood.3
Little else is known of him. His daughter's birth in Nebraska in 1865, while it was still a territory, places him among the early settlers of the southeastern corner of the state (see her profile).2
