Mary Lee Hayles was born on 17 February 1943.1–2 She became the second wife of Keith Donnell Hegnauer, a grandson of Robert Lucius Hegnauer and Lotta Donnell, and the mother of his younger daughter (living), born in Hennepin County, Minnesota.3–4 When and where they married has not been found.

By the 1990s Keith was living at Blair, in western Wisconsin (see his profile). He died in 2014 and was buried in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, near Minneapolis.5 Mary Lee Hegnauer died on 28 April 2022, aged seventy-nine. Her obituary appeared two days later, indexed under Altoona, near Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and she was buried at Fort Snelling with her husband.1–2
