Lucille Lorraine Lueck was born on 30 September 1921 at Chippewa Falls, Chippewa County, Wisconsin, a daughter of Herbert H. Lueck and Sigrid (Signia) Gilbertson.1–3 She went by her middle name, Lorraine. By 1935 she was living at Aberdeen, on Grays Harbor in Washington, and she went as far as the second year of high school.4
Mrs. Woodrow Wilson
On 7 October 1939, a week after her eighteenth birthday, Lorraine married Woodrow Elgia Wilson at Aberdeen.5 The census taker found the young couple the next April renting a house at 318 South Michigan Street for $15 a month, with Woodrow's brother Floyd and an infant niece; Woodrow was working on WPA street construction.4 That October, when Woodrow registered for the draft, he named his wife, "Mrs. Lucille Lorraine Wilson", as the person who would always know his address, and gave her address as 1112 Tecumseh Street, not his own.6
Lorraine and Woodrow had three children, all born at Aberdeen between 1940 and 1942: an elder daughter (living), Bonita Jean, called Bonnie, born on 13 June 1941, and a younger child (living). Woodrow went into the Army in the summer of 1942, and on 25 April 1943 the three children were baptized together at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seattle. Their sponsors were Mrs. Signa Jasper and Mr. Hubert Jasper; Lorraine's mother, by then remarried, was Signa Jasper.7–8
Later marriages
The marriage did not survive the war. On 19 October 1943, at Chehalis in Lewis County, Lucille Lorraine Wilson, twenty-two, married Merlin Godfrey.3 Her Social Security record shows that she was later Mrs. Lawter (by 1955) and Mrs. Huff (by 1956), and from at least 1969 Mrs. Hildbrand, the name she kept for the rest of her life.2 Her Find a Grave memorial gives her later husbands as Leonard Benjamin Lawter, George Vernon Huff and Gordon Carl Hildbrand, and a daughter, Hazel Marie (Huff) Christensen, who was born in 1946 and died in 2003.8 Her daughter Bonnie, Mrs. Brockman, died in 1996.8
She died on 2 February 2000, in Grays Harbor County, at the age of seventy-eight, and her ashes were laid in the urn garden of Fern Hill Cemetery, Aberdeen.8–10

Wilson at Aberdeen in Oct 1939, and in April 1940 Lorraine Wilson, 18, born in Wisconsin, was his wife.5, 4 (3) Woodrow's draft card (Oct 1940) names his wife as Mrs. Lucille Lorraine Wilson, and the 1943 baptism register gives the mother of his three children as Lorraine L. - Not her: The old family tree gave her a birth on 22 Apr 1922 at Park Rapids, Minnesota, and a second marriage to Vernon R. Stevenson in Clark County, Washington, in 1968. The marriage record behind it (read on the image, 27 Sep 2026) is of a different woman: Lorraine L. Wilson of Longview, 45, born 22 Apr 1922 at Park Rapids, twice divorced, who married Vernon A. Stevenson (the index's "R." is a misreading). Our Lorraine was born in Wisconsin in 1921 and was Mrs. Lawter, Huff and Hildbrand in those years. The Minnesota birth and the Stevenson marriage are rejected.

- The end of the first marriage: On Woodrow's draft card of Oct 1940 her address differs from his, which suggests a separation by then.6 She married Merlin Godfrey in Oct 1943 under her married name Wilson, so the marriage had ended by then, while Woodrow was in the Army; no divorce record has been found (Grays Harbor County Superior Court, 1941–1943).3
- Later husbands: Merlin Godfrey (1943); then surnames Lawter (by May 1955), Huff (by Jan 1956) and Hildbrand (by Sep 1969), from her Social Security record.2 Her Find a Grave memorial, a derivative compilation, names them as Merlin Godfrey (1917–1972, m. 1943), Leonard Benjamin Lawter (1924–1988) and George Vernon Huff (1920–1981), both "m. 1955", and Gordon Carl Hildbrand (1920–1975, m. 1964).8 No marriage record for the last three has been read. The memorial also links her 1939 husband as "Woodrow Elwyn Wilson (1914–2004)", who is another man: her husband was Woodrow Elgia Wilson (1917–1966).8, 5
- Hazel Marie (Huff) Christensen: Find a Grave links a daughter, Hazel Marie (Huff) Christensen, 1946–2003.8 Her birth year falls between the Godfrey marriage (1943) and the Lawter and Huff surnames of 1955–56, so who her father was, and why she bore the name Huff, is not yet known.
