(born about 1907; Mrs. George A. Reuther, 1938), in Newark 1905–1920 and Irvington 1930–1950. A Hazel A. Hegnauer born at Newark on 7 Sep 1907 (O02335) is probably Thelma H. under another name (Thelma's middle initial is H.); kept as a separate key until proven.

His NUMIDENT gives his birthplace as "Sweden" (O02328), probably a misreading of Switzerland; a James Hegnauer born 1881 in Switzerland was a single man in Sheridan Co., Nebraska, in 1910 and at Black Diamond, King Co., Washington, in 1920 (O02962, O02923), placed on James Ernest as possible. If James was born in Switzerland he was not Wilhelm's son; a brother or cousin of Louis Arnold is possible but unproven.
• Jacob Hegnauer (born about 1853/54, Switzerland; US-NWK-009), in central New Jersey (Somerset, Mercer and Middlesex Cos.) 1895–1910: no family found.
• Origin: not stated in any record. The Newark and central New Jersey Hegnauers are a separate cluster as far as the evidence goes (H2); nothing links them to Rochester, Igis or Elgg. A "Louis Hegnauer", born 1874 in Switzerland, landed at New York on 21 Mar 1892 (US-NYC-014); if he were Louis Arnold (born in New Jersey, perhaps raised in Switzerland), the family's origin could be found through that list.

• Minnie's birthplace: Germany (1920, 1930, 1950 Irvington) against New Jersey (1950 Passaic, where she was enumerated a second time with Edna).
