Life story
Frank Phillips was living at Sulphur Springs, in Benton County, Arkansas, on the Missouri line, when he married Ella Wilson (born Sarah Ellen Chandler), the widow of Elijah D. "Lige" Wilson. The licence was issued at Pineville, the county seat of McDonald County, Missouri, on Monday, 11 April 1927, to "Frank Phillips of Sulphur Springs", over twenty-one, and "Ella Wilson of Noel", over eighteen, and on the next day a justice of the peace married them at Noel.1 Frank died before Ella. When she died in Cass County, Missouri, in January 1937, her death certificate called her Sarah Ellen Phillips, his widow.2

- Sources: Only the marriage record (image read) and his wife's death certificate (image read at the Missouri State Archives) have been seen.1, 2
- Identity: Nothing but his name, his residence in 1927 and his age "over 21" is known. The couple was not found in the 1930 census on Ancestry, searched for Frank Phillips with a wife Ella and for Ella or Sarah Phillips born about 1863. FamilySearch's 1930 index, searched for a Phillips born 1861–1865 in Missouri with a spouse named Frank, gives one household near Ella's later home: "F W Phillips", born about 1864 in Missouri, at Harrisonville, Cass County. That household was not opened, and the identification is only possible, but it would explain why Ella was living in Cass County when she died.
- Death: Before 6 January 1937.2 Look in the Cass County and Benton County, Arkansas, records of 1927–1936 and on Find a Grave (Butler Creek Cemetery, Sulphur Springs; Cass County cemeteries).
