On 13 September 1658 Ulrich Hegnauer married Maria Schaürmeyer at Elgg, canton Zürich, Switzerland. He was probably the father of five children baptised at Elgg between 1663 and 1681, among them Verena and Hans Ulrich. Four more are known, among them Barbara and H Volrich.
