Nellie Jane Maslowski was born about 1910, a daughter of Joe Maslowski and Martha Wisniewski, whose names point to a Polish family.1 The family tree gives her birth as 11 September 1909 at Kyle, Hays County, Texas (see Research Notes).

By the spring of 1931 Nellie was already a young woman with a past: she had been married once, to a man named Groat, and she was going by the name Nellie Maslowski Groat. On 4 April 1931, at Montesano, the seat of Grays Harbor County, Washington, she married Floyd Wilson, who like her was twenty-one, a son of a Grays Harbor family from the Ozarks; the record names his parents as Lucy Harris and "G I" [James I.] Wilson.1 The marriage did not last. By February 1939 Floyd had married again.2

What became of Nellie after that has not been traced from records. The family tree says she died on 5 June 2004 at Roseburg, Douglas County, Oregon.

  • Identity: Everything known of her from records comes from one index entry, that of her marriage to Floyd Wilson in 1931, which gives her age, her maiden and married names and her parents' names.1 The bridegroom is Floyd Perry Wilson (H0087): his age and his parents, Lucy Harris and "G I" (for J. I.) Wilson, fit.
  • Name: Maslowski was her maiden name and Groat an earlier married name.1 The middle name Jane is the family tree's only. Her surname after the marriage to Floyd ended is not known.
