“Banning to Stage Ancient Hare-Tortoise Race”

A feature story, headed "Aesop Olympics", announcing that Banning, California, would stage a race between a hare and a tortoise on 13–15 October 1955. The race was announced by R. L. Hegnauer, secretary-manager of the Banning Chamber of Commerce, whom the study identifies as Robert Lucius Hegnauer (1887–1969).
