A company composed of twenty of the leading farmers and horse breeders of South East Bates, has purchased an "English Shire" stallion of the celebrated importer of fine horses, O. O. Hefner, of Lincoln, Nebraska. A committee selected to make the purchase, consisting of Wm. Burrows, John Hedges and David Sweazey, went to Lincoln and returned with the horse the first of last week. The horse is a four year old, a dapple bay and weighs 1,800 pounds. Price paid, $1,900. The members of the company are Willam Burrows, Francis Gilbreath, George Brown, John Hedges, William P. Lane, G. W. Neafus, J. C. Lane, J. W. Gench, F. L. Gench, Daniel Hutton, J. C. Hirni, F. H. Diel, L. Hegnauer, W. A. Siggins, Henry Grobe, W. H. Maltby & Son, Fred Fix, F. Schapaler, Martin Rapp and David Sweazey.
