False Friend Is Given Long Term

"You're a fine specimen of humanity," Judge O'Connor told Carl Hagnauer, 23, 214 Campbell park, when the latter was arraigned in City Court today on a charge of petit larceny. "A man befriends you and you steal a suit of clothes from him. The sentence of the court is that you be confined in Monroe County Penitentiary for 180 days."

Hagnauer told a hard luck story to a man whom he knew slightly. The friend offered to share his room until Hagnauer struck better luck. Hagnauer accepted, lived with the man a few days and then left, taking a suit of his friend's clothes with him.
