The Convention Today.

The first convention of the campaign year will be held in the Opera House in our city this afternoon, commencing at 2 o'clock.

Notwithstanding that last Saturday, the time appointed to select delegates to today's convention was one of the most stormy and disagreeable of the entire winter, advices from most townships say that delegates were chosen in accordance with the call, and the indications are that every township will be represented.

Mayor Webster Davis, of Kansas City, one of the ablest orators in the state, will be present and deliver an address. This fact of itself will be sufficient to fill the house to its full capacity. The exact hour of his speech has not been fully decided upon, but it will likely be at 3 o'clock.

In this connection we extend an invitation to the ladies of our town and county to be present and hear this able champion of Americanism and Republicanism. The fact that he is a bachelor should not keep any of our handsome, intelligent young ladies from attending.

Of course democrats and populists will be made welcome, and in fact, we predict a sort of old-fashioned love feast.

The accredited delegates from the several townships, so far as we have been able to ascertain at the time of going to press, are as follows:
