Matt Belisle took the first prize at the Appleton City Academy oratorial contest last Friday night.

Clyde Chapin, Matt Belisle, Morton Brown and John White, of Hudson, and Leonard Hegnaer, jr., and B. F. Wix, of Pleasant Gap, attended the funeral of General Sherman at St. Louis.

Miss Alpha Brown, of Reynard, returned home from Appleton City last Saturday, where she had been a student at the academy during the winter term.

Miss Alice McLain will teach the summer term of school at Reynard.

S. S. Varnes sold five hogs last week that weighed 2,340 lbs.
